WITH the rain teeming down at Hampden Park on Saturday morning, Hill Top took out the under-15 Jan Plain Cup 5-1 against Bundanoon.
It was tough conditions and both sides fought hard to get the win.
Cameron Hallias and Zac Bishop both scored two goals each for Hill Top in the win.
Hill Top coach Mark Johnson said it was a great performance from both sides, but he was pleased to get the win.
"It's always a big game with Bundy. They've been getting it over us the last few times but this time we managed to get back on top," he said.
"It was really bad conditions, I feel sorry for all the kids but they fought really hard and credit to both teams."
Hill Top changed its goalkeeper for the match with BJ Mangion stepping into the role.
Johnson said in an overall solid team effort, Mangion was a standout.
"He's never had any (goalkeeper) training at all and he was a big difference out there. But I'd have to say as a team they all fired up well today."
Despite the wet conditions, Johnson said Hill Top started the game with a good intensity.
"I think they came out firing, just wanting to win, from the start which made a big difference."
With semi-finals starting next week, Hill Top and Bundanoon will face each other again in the major semi-final.
Hill Top finished second to Bundanoon on goal difference at the end of the season.
"Hopefully we'll get through to the grand final. It's been a great comp all year and Bundy's been a good opposition," Johnson said.
