Ronald, aka Tony Aichinger, was spotted cycling through the Highlands on Thursday.
Mr Aichinger dressed up as the McDonald’s well-known mascot as part of a ride to raise funds for a worthy cause.
The Ronald McDonald House Charities Ride for Sick Kids Riverina included a stopover in Mittagong.
Fourteen cyclists cruised into the Mittagong McDonald’s car park late Thursday afternoon, signaling the end of a 196-kilometre leg that day.
A small crowd gathered to congratulate the crew on finishing the journey from Queanbeyan.
On arrival, Mr Aichinger was presented with a $500 cheque by Mittagong McDonald’s owners Marcelle and Peter Bain.
Ms Bain said it was great to be involved in the event.
“I take my hat off to them – it’s a great cause,” she said.
The ride is held to raise money for Ronald McDonald Houses in Wagga Wagga and Canberra.
The journey began on Monday, August 25 in Wagga Wagga and finished last Friday at Sydney’s Westmead Hospital.
Participants covered more than 800km across the five days.
So far, close to $130,000 has been raised, which exceeds the event’s target of $100,000.
One of the participants, Chris Mulcahy, didn’t ride from Queanbeyan to Mittagong, as he aimed to save energy for Friday’s final leg.
When asked how the ride had been, Mr Mulcahy had a varied answer.
“It’s hard, cold, wet and windy, but very rewarding,” he said.
