ON SATURDAY, the Highlands FC under-15 team travelled to Helensburgh in what was always going to be a close game.
The first half started with Helensburgh creating some early scoring chances with the Highlands boys a bit slow to get in a rhythm and intensity.
Once the boys settled in, they needed to do what they did in the first half with the score at half time 0-0.
The second half started and the boys showed a bit more dominance and created more scoring chances.
Helensburgh kept pressuring the defence in the final 15 minutes but the defence played well to keep the scoreline to a 1-0 and finish with a win to the Highlands.
Highlands has lost just one game during the season and finished with 10 wins.
The team will now focus its attention on the finals.
Highlands under-14s played Figtree on Saturday at David Wood Playing Fields in a game that decided fifth spot.
It started out as a scrappy affair with both teams having chances but neither side stringing many passes together.
After about 15 minutes Highlands started to dominate.
However, some good play late in the half allowed the Highlands to score five goals and take the win.
