The meeting will address the next stage in the delivery of the SWSML population health needs assessment.
SWSML's population health team has spent the past two years consulting with residents, health professionals, non-government organisations and other health service stakeholders to determine strategies to help improve the health of residents across the region.
South Western Sydney Medicare Local CEO Rene Pennock said the forum was designed to keep the community updated on the next step in delivering on the health priorities identified in the needs assessment.
Mr Pennock said the forum also provided an opportunity to update the community on the closure of Medicare Locals and the establishment of new Primary Health Networks.
"In May this year, we came to the end of a two-year, comprehensive needs assessment process which involved consultation with more than 1500 stakeholders and the community, extensive data analysis and the development of priority strategies to improve the health of residents," he said.
"It was anticipated these strategies would inform our service delivery for the next three years, and although the timeframe has been cut short, we still aim to make progress on these strategies during the next 12 months."
"We will also advocate that this work is adopted by the new Primary Health Network so the findings and knowledge about the health needs of the people of South Western Sydney is retained."
Mr Pennock said South Western Sydney Medicare Local was committed to deliver on its many health initiatives and operate business as usual during the next 12 months.
The meeting will be held at Mittagong RSL on Tuesday, August 26 from 11am to 12.30pm.
