The second heat of the competition was held on Tuesday night at the Cookability School at Kazcare site, Bowral.
Run by BDCU Children’s Foundation and the Rotary Club of Berrima District, Cook Off organisers invited 60 guests to taste dishes prepared by contestants.
The combinations of Katrina Harvey and Hugh Farimond, Chrstina Boyd-Jones and Belinda Stafford, and Julie Threader and Jodi Spinks were adjudged as standouts on the night.
They will move straight to the finals, alongside first round winners Sophia Dummer and Jessica Wade, Phillipa Sanderson and Annabel Boyd-Jones, and Stephanie Minter and Kate Osborne.
Each team of pairs again received support from their mentors, consisting of professional chefs and finalists in last year’s competition.
All cooks were again pushed along by Centennial Vineyards Restaurant owner Robin Murray.
It was hot in the kitchen as Mr Murray barked out instructions and put the pressure on to meet deadlines.
Fortunately, all teams made the cut.
“It was another great night of cooking,” BDU Children’s Foundation vice-president Ross Stone said.
“We are very grateful to the professional chefs and 2013 finalists for their time and commitment.”
Coffee Culture, Bowral, provided an entrée for diners and Gumnut Patisserie put together dessert.
To complement dishes served, music was provided by Bowral siblings Alex and Nyssa Bunyin.
The third heat in the Cook Off will be held at the Cookability School on Tuesday, September 2.
