Detectives from The Hume Local Area Command are conducting investigations after several hundred dollars of counterfeit notes were passed at businesses in the area, including a Homewares shop in Moss Vale, fast food outlets in Mittagong, and a hotel in Bowral.
Police are continuing their investigations to identify those responsible for passing and making the counterfeit $10 and $50 notes.
They are also warning business owners and the community to be on the lookout for fake $10 and $50 notes using the serial numbers BE09199681 and AH06152476.
The notes have a distinct paper feel about them.
Business owners and customers are encouraged to check the clear window security feature which may assist in determining whether the notes are genuine.
Anyone who is handed one of these notes is asked to contact police immediately.
