AT BOWRAL Bowling Club last Saturday, John Edmonds defeated Kevin Stafford 31-26 in the final of the men's Minor Singles.
The game was close all the way and at no stage did either player have a big lead.
After eight ends the score was 8-8 with both players at the top of their game.
After 15 ends both players could not make a break from one another with the scores locked at 13-13.
Twenty ends had been played before either player had a break in the game.
Edmonds, who played some great draw shots including one shot when three shots down, trailed the kitty to pick up two shots which gave him a 21-15 lead.
But an epic fightback by Stafford got him back into the match and on 27 ends the game was again wide open at 26-26.
Edmonds then closed the game out on the next two ends by picking up five shots which gave him the title.
Both players played a high standard of bowls on the day with Edmonds' draw shots just giving him a winning edge.
