THE club fours championships will be played at Bowral Bowling Club on Saturday at 1pm.
The current title holders, Cris Kelly, Dean Anderson, Paul Sproge and Josh Woodcock, will be up against Gordon Lewis, Ashley Lewis, Greg Lewis and Mick Spong.
It is expected that it will be the two skippers, Woodcock and Spong, that will decided which teams takes the title.
For team Woodcock, the challenge will be to hold its game together in the final six ends if it holds the lead in order to claim back to back wins.
Team Woodcock conceded too many shots in its semi-final against team Dodwell.
After holding the lead, it just held on for a two-shot win.
Team Spong did not play consistently in the early rounds.
The trio of Lewis players (Gordon, Ashley and Greg) have not played with any consistency in any of the matches.
Skipper Spong has played many recovering shots to get his team to the final and remarkably has got his team into the final with some great play.
Team Woodcock is the favourite to win due to its strong teamwork in previous matches.
Fours is well and truly a team game and the test for team Spong will be for all players to work together.
Della to MC centenary dinner
PROFESSOR Stephen Della will be the MC on the night at the Bowral Bowling Club centenary dinner on Saturday, August 16.
The centenary yearbook compiled by Yvonne Chapman will be launched on the night and the book has proved an inspired item.
A grant application was successful and $1200 was awarded by Wingecarribee Shire Council towards the publication of the book.
An award ceremony will be held at council on August 6 and representatives of the club will make the trip to Moss Vale for the award.
Centenary badges are another item up for sale and can be purchased from Don Coleman or at the bar in Club Bowral.
