MITTAGONG reserve grade Lions finally got a chance to do plenty of attacking in Sunday's match.
Up against local rivals Moss Vale, Mittagong got off to a slow start.
But a couple of tries midway through the first half opened the floodgates and the Lions dominated the match to record a 40-4 victory.
After scoring his first try for the season last week, Ben Trevisiol proved he was on fire with another try on Sunday.
Hayden Wallace, Bo Lander, Jack Marcocci, Shannon Bond, Mark Williams and playing coach Corey Shepherd all scored for the Lions.
Billy Rofe kicked six conversions.
Moss Vale has struggled this year and is yet to win a match, but Shepherd said he didn't want his side to go into the match overly confident.
"It was really tough in the first 15 to 20 minutes, they were really getting on the front foot. We weren't meeting them in defence and they had all the momentum," he said.
"They were tough but they just ran out of steam in the end. It's slowly coming together and there's still plenty we can work on in our shape and getting that right but it was definitely an improvement."
It was another strong defensive performance on Sunday but Shepherd said Wallace and Bond were two of the stronger players on the field for the Lions.
Mittagong will travel to The Oaks on Saturday night in what will be a massive change for the team, who has not played a night match in a while.
"We've got to step up another gear and get another win on the board. It'll be tough because it'll be cold and everyone will know about it."
