In almost three years, this family has gone through more stress, financial and emotional, than many will see in a lifetime.
Their daughter Cheyanne was born with holes in her heart, and in her short little life has already undergone two major surgeries, including open heart surgery.
As if that wasn't enough, early this year Cheyanne was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
In April she was so unwell the treatment was halted, but now she is back to daily sessions of chemotherapy.
It's hard to believe all of this has happened before her third birthday, which is just under a month away, on August 18.
Cheyanne Roberts is the definition of a tough cookie.
Life has thrown her curveballs every step of the way, but she refuses to let them beat her.
Her mother, Bec, says she has never met a more courageous person in her life.
Cheyanne has captured the hearts of hospital staff and visitors and her mother says all the nurses have taken to her.
She said Hi 5 member Tanika returned to the hospital after meeting Cheyanne because she couldn't stop thinking about her, and visited her regularly.
When the Southern Highland News was told of Cheyanne's battle and shared her story with the community, the Roberts' family was overwhelmed with support.
If there's one thing to be said about the Southern Highlands community, it is that generosity is in abundance when there is someone in need.
Highlanders are always willing to put their hands in their pockets to help a friend or a stranger.
It is always astounding to learn what the community has raised for charities or families in need.
