The resignations brought the chambers into chaos, but no resignations were handed in.
Councillor John Uliana put forward a notice of motion that asked Councillor Duncan Gair to "stand by your comments and stand down as a councillor. Yes or no".
The request was made in regards to a code of conduct matter regarding a WIN TV interview with Mayor Juliet Arkwright about the departure of the former general manager Jason Gordon.
In the OLG report Cr Arkwright was found guilty of misleading council but allegations that she brought council to disrepute over the matter were not supported by the OLG.
In his call for Cr Gair's resignation, Cr Uliana said "Cr Gair was prepared to stand down as a councillor if the mayor did not apologise and admit she had pre-empted the outcome before a final decision [regarding the general manager's position] had been made before council".
"I do believe the mayor indeed is owed an apology."
Cr Gair did not resign and moved the motion to be noted.
Councillor Garry Turland seconded the motion and it was passed.
However, the call for resignations did not end there with Cr Gair putting forward a motion arising that requested Cr Uliana to resign from council.
He said his request was prompted by Cr Uliana's lack of meeting attendance.
"Out of six Peak Planning and Strategic Meetings of the whole, you have missed four this year. He has attended two shire-wide inspections out of 22 during the term of this council, that is missing 78 per cent [of meetings].
"Cr Uliana has attended approximately seven to 10 information sessions, and I'm being generous here, out of the 150 and that is a missing in action rate of 78 per cent.
"Cr Uliana attends two public council meetings a month arriving at 3pm until close of council, at approximately 8pm which is 10 hours per month. The allowance for councillors is $1400 and it puts Cr Uliana on $140 an hour."
Councillor Larry Whipper said he was embarrassed for the community.
"I deal with people facing crisis everyday, we've got a whole community out there that's in crisis because of these silly games that are being played and perpetuated around this table," Cr Whipper said.
Councillor Holly Campbell said everyone had "hit an absolute low tonight".
"We're a disgrace all of us, and you know why we are a disgrace, because there is absolutely no leadership," Cr Campbell said.
She said she hoped councillors could redeem themselves in the final two years of their election period.
"Whoever gets the gig of mayor, good luck but please lead."
Cr Gair's motion arising to request Cr Uliana's resignation was seconded by Cr Turland and supported by Cr McLaughlin. The motion was declared defeated by the mayor.
