Andrew Mevissen, Matt Coady, Murray Hamer, Daniel Weekes, Rick Mooney, Deann Bramble and Michael Castleman, who all work in the Regal Professional Centre in Mittagong, will tackle the 20km long course on November 15 and 16.
"It's the first time in the Southern Highlands so we thought we'd do the right thing and be a part of the event," Mevissen said.
"We've done the Spartan race recently. None of us has run 20km before so we'll be in lots of training between then."
With ice, water and mud all part of the obstacles they would need to overcome, Mevissen said he was more worried about the rumoured electric shocks.
"I heard that there were electric shocks as part of the race which is a bit scary.
"The distance is another factor, 20km is a lot of running. But you've got to push yourself in life and just sitting at your desk all day and then going home is boring. It's good to get out there and so something challenging like this."
All in their 40s, Mevissen said the team had started as a way to exercise, get fit and motivate each other.
"We're all in our 40s and that's the sort of time when people stop exercising so we thought we'd keep fit, keep active and keep the camaraderie going."
The event will bring plenty of competitors to the Highlands and Mevissen said he hoped lots of locals would also join in. "It'd be good for a lot of locals to go to the Tough Mudder because it's the first time. It's good fun to do together and (hopefully) we might have inspired other companies and businesses to join together as well."
