Entertainer and Highland resident Mr Ackroyd was happy to be named festival ambassador, but it was the black Labrador, Trek, who stole the show. Trek was enthusiastic as a series of photos were taken with Mr Ackroyd.
Representatives of charity partner Guide Dogs NSW attended the event held at Mittagong Vistor's Information Centre.
Guide Dogs NSW/ACT hope to raise $30,000 through its partnership with Tulip Time, which is equivalent to the cost to raise and train a working guide dog like Trek.
Mr Ackroyd said he was happy to support such a worthy cause.
"I am really looking forward to bringing fun, and occasional weirdness, to this fantastic event," he said.
"I encourage everyone to get behind this festival."
The 2014 Tulip Time celebrates its 54th anniversary as one of Australia's leading floral events. It is one of the only remaining charity-based floral festivals in NSW.
Mr Ackroyd said he was excited about the event's theme, "A Colourful Life".
"We'll have a lot of fun and we'll be very colourful."
Mr Ackroyd is well known for his Stress Less Laugh More workshops, that encourage people to avoid stress through positive and creative thoughts. Tulip Time runs from September 16 to October 6 at Corbett Gardens, Bowral.
