Coach Corey Shepherd said he was not over pleased with the win but was still glad to finish with the two points.
"We didn't come out in the second half and that was disappointing," he said.
"They scored 16 points to nearly win. It was a funny day, the enthusiasm wasn't there. We made way too many errors and kept giving them the ball."
Shepherd said the Lions completed less than 50 per cent of their sets, which made it hard to score further points in the second half after leading 32-10 at the break.
"It makes it hard to score points when you don't have the ball. The first half was definitely good. The boys started a bit slow but then started to play good football, they looked clean and sharp. I'm still trying to figure out what happened (in the second half).
"It was good to get the two points, even though it was sloppy."
Jesse Bond bagged two tries for Mittagong with Bo Lander, Regan Economos and Hayden Wallace also scoring. Shepherd said Bond and Cameron Madden played well with Lander also putting in a good performance on the wing.
Wet weather has hampered the Lions season and made training difficult with injuries forcing Mittagong to use a few different halves combinations over the past three weeks.
"It's hard to get those combinations working and get the fluency in your play and it's hard to get a roll on when there's no training," he said.
The Lions have another weekend off before playing Thirlmere on the Anzac Day weekend.
