The Soldier On Remembrance Ride starts in Sydney and participants stop in Mittagong on Tuesday, April 22.

Led by professional cyclist and coach Scott Sunderland, the group will consist of current and ex-serving individuals.

The ride is supported by the Mittagong RSL and members are having dinner at the club.

The group then moves onto Collector the following day, before the 320km ride concludes at the Australian War Memorial (AWM) on April 24.

Soldier On was started by John Bale, who was a captain in the Australian army.

Mr Bale joined the defence force with school mate Michael Fussell, who would be killed by an improvised explosive devise in Afghanistan in 2008.

Following Mr Fussell's death, Mr Bale looked for a way to give back to those mates who survived the blast and others who might be injured in the future.

Mr Bale realised there was no easy or accessible way for members of the defence forces, or the public, who wanted to show their support for those wounded in battle.

He enlisted the help of Flight Lieutenant Cavin Wilson and they decided it was time to start an organisation that connected these soldiers to the wider public.

A Soldier On representative said the ride aimed to connect the Australian public with the veteran community and AWM.
