Local Justices of the Peace will offer their free support to the public through a desk at the Supa IGA Moss Vale store in Clarence Street, Moss Vale, from Thursday (October 27).
It is the latest desk to be opened by the Southern Highlands JP Branch of the NSW Justices Association in the past 18 months.
The first desk, which operates out of Stafford Cottage, Bowral, each Wednesday and Saturday from 9.30am to noon opened in June last year.
A second desk, in Highlands Marketplace, Mittagong, and open each Friday from 10am to 1pm, began offering its free JP service to the community in February.
JP volunteers will be at the Moss Vale desk each Thursday from 10am to 1pm, where they will be able to witness and sign documents.
Southern Highlands JP Branch of the NSWJA president John Reid JP said more than 1800 documents had been witnessed by JPs since the Community Desk services began in the Highlands last year.
He said the service was now delivered by 35 volunteers, but more volunteers were needed.
"There are many registered JPs in the Highlands," he said.
"It would be great if we could encourage more of them to join our branch and become volunteers on our community desks, spending generally no more than four hours a month on one or all three of our desks."
Mr Reid said other people in the community could show their support for Community Desks at fundraising activities conducted by the Southern Highlands branch, including barbecues at Bunnings, Mittagong.
The Association will next sizzle sausages at Bunnings on November 13.
Mr Reid said money raised through such activities went toward equipment and materials required by JPs for the successful operation of each of the three Community Desks.
