Open season on Whipper

23 Dec, 2011 12:00 AM
THE open season on Whipper seems to be in full swing, doesn't it!

Some might say it is obvious the self-appointed power brokers of the Wingecarribee Shire don't like to be challenged! I wonder who I have upset? (letter SHN 12.12.11. "What is council's focus?")

The choir master, Nick, seems to have all the baritones singing in harmony. Surprise, surprise!

Interesting to see soloist and model citizen Charlie Johns exercising his vocal chords. Interesting to see how Mr Johns seemingly jumps to the conductor's tune in defence of Mr Turland.

Don't worry, Charlie, I could almost predict (like) Mac, that Mr Turland has already thought about a Code of Conduct complaint.

Seems, however, he may not be as ready to identify provocation in his own actions. Some people can give but not take!

I believe Mr Turland suggests people have the right to have differences of opinion, but when his own are challenged he appears to adopt a different strategy.

Mr Johns also seems uncharacteristically interested in tree matters.

I wouldn't have picked him as a greenie. I would suggest that if he or anyone else in the Choir has information or can identify the culprits that will bring justice and a conclusion to this matter, that they sing out loud! On this we agree - justice has not been served.

You did state one truth, however. Yes, I am for People Power and if those who would play with the system for their own ends to divide and conquer do not like it, tough luck!

For those who have conscience, Mr Johns, I am sure will be judged accordingly.

Remember, you can fool some of the people all of the time, not all of the people all of the time.

But of course there will always be those who fool themselves, all of the time.

And a peaceful and happy Christmas and New Year to all your readers.

LARRY WHIPPER

Deputy Mayor
