WE are writing in support of the letter by Lisa K Taylor, Community Engagement Manager - Wind Clean Energy Council, in Southern Highlands News on Monday January 30, 2012.
The development of wind power together with other forms of renewable energy is urgent and critical for the future of NSW.
The government's proposed Wind Farm Strategy proposes an elaborate system of regulations for wind farms, which is not applied in equal measure to fossil fuel industries and will eventually prove to be counter-productive.
Ms Taylor says: "Appropriate regulations and community consultation should apply to any wind farm, as with any other piece of infrastructure farmers may choose".
Our members are greatly concerned that by government's implementation of the Wind Farm Strategy, inappropriate planning processes will be used to inhibit the development of Wind Energy facilities in NSW.
Health-based environmental objections have now been shown to be unfounded.
It is time for the government to act responsibly and allow proposals for Wind Energy facilities to be assessed equally with any other infrastructure proposal.
