Short Black Waratahs at their best

30 May, 2008 12:23 PM
The Bowral Black Waratahs under-12s had an impressive 17-10 victory over Kiama at Eridge Park on Sunday.

It was the only success for Bowral against Kiama in the Blacks’ “family day”, where both juniors and seniors clashed with the coastal visitors.

Kiama team boasted six representatives from the Illawarra team that won the Country championships last weekend, making the win more remarkable.

The Black Waratahs put in their best performance of the season with the forwards outplaying the much bigger Kiama pack and, as a result, providing plenty of opportunities for the backs.

The victory keeps Bowral in the top-four with a difficult assignment this weekend against the strong Shamrocks.

Bowral try scorers were Eamonn Kearney, Riley Byrne and Nick Wakeham, while Tom Scott kicked a goal.

The under-8s had another close game, going down by one try, 35-30, to the Tigs Uni Ants.
