Lions silenced

28 Aug, 2008 12:03 PM
MITTAGONG’s titles chances were shattered on Sunday with both teams going down in nail biting preliminary finals at Picton.

The DNC Lions were on the verge of a terrific victory against The Oaks when a cruel bounce of the ball saw the Tigers steal a 16-12 win.

In a game where the lead changed seven times the crowd were on their feet for most of it.

The under-18s lost in a tough game against a slick Robertson outfit 24-20 after staging a stirring comeback.

Mittagong president Geoff Alcock said both teams went down fighting.

“Both teams left nothing on the field, and if effort counted for anything they would have won both matches,” he said.
