Facing the undefeated Thirlmere Roosters this Sunday at home, Moss Vale needed to walk way with two competition points at Narellan yesterday.
Despite a slow start, the boys found their rhythm and never trailed in their 36-22 win.
With Thirlmere disposing of Oakdale 24-14 and Camden upsetting Picton 30-28 in a nail biter, the Dragons sit in third spot with the Workers.
Mark Delamont and Damian Barton both bagged doubles and Rhys Lenarduzzi kicked a perfect six from six as the new-look Dragons took down a Narellan side devoid of any NSW Cup ring ins.
The cellar dwellers played sharp football at times but Moss Vale’s gritty defence denied them a come-from behind win. Moss Vale should have won by more but failed to make the most of their possession in Jets territory
The young Dragons appear to want to score off every ruck and need to bring more patience into their attack to grind teams out of the game.
Narellan fought back from an 18-6 halftime deficit to trail 30-16 with 10 minutes to go, but Barton sealed the win eight minutes from time.
The Jets finished the match with a well-worked try. Fullback Scott Thompson cut back in on the inside to claim his second for the afternoon.
Dragons centre Robert Wiya opened the scoring 20 minutes in before Narellan equalised through Seva Koroi. Two late first half tries to Delamont and Scott Bishop gave the Dragons a 12-point buffer.
