Moss Vale captain-coach Lee Trasler wants to know who at the club ran over a black cat or has been walking under ladders after the Dragons lost another key player to injury on Sunday.
Centre Tyler Jones went off with a back injury in the first half and did not return in Moss Vale’s 44-16 loss to the Roosters at Thirlmere on Sunday.
It was the Dragons fourth consecutive loss to the Roosters this season, and Thirlmere has all but written their names on the Mittagong RSL first-grade trophy with their sixth straight win.
Jones joins a long list of Dragons on the sidelines, which has forced Trasler to blood his young reserve graders and under-18s.
Young Isaac Loader suffered a concussion and rib damage, while Jess Micallef also had another tough initiation at the top level.
Moss Vale only trialled 8-6 after 30 minutes but the Roosters accelerated from their 20-6 halftime lead to win the game easily.
Trasler and Jon Creswell fought hard in the ruck to keep the Dragons in it and the skipper scored their only first half try but was denied another, for a forward pass, right on halftime.
The Roosters scored two quick tries after the break to stretch the lead to 30-6, but Brett Cummings and Josh Saunders scored in the second term to salvage some pride.
