A courageous innings of 148 by Nathan Wright was not quite enough for Robertson/Burrawang to avoid an outright loss in its Southern Lands first grade cricket match against Goulburn Soldiers on Saturday in Goulburn.
After the first day's play, Soldiers were 2/278 in reply to Robertson's first innings score of 131.
"We did not do too badly in the end," Robertson captain Aaron De Jager said.
"They came out on Saturday and batted for 45 minutes and we ended up having them eight down."
Nathan Wright finished with four wickets, while De Jager took three and Mick Rivers took one.
Robertson then batted until 5.45pm and made 289, playing with just nine players.
Wright was the top scorer and also the last wicket to fall, with Dave Cuppot scoring 34 and Ben Wright scoring 17 not out.
Soldiers then lost two wickets in the run chase, with Dave Cuppitt taking both.
