Tulip Time open mixed pairs is a success

31 Oct, 2001 09:13 AM

Following a very successful Tulip Time Open Mixed Pairs competition, bowls secretary Ken Handley is pleased to announce that Friday night mixed twilight bowls will start up again this Friday at 5.30pm.

Running until the bell, around 7pm, this very popular triples format has a brand new incentive this year, with not only weekly prizes to be won, but a $500 cash bonus generously donated by secretary manager Paul Sills, also on the line for the overall winners.

Get your name down before 5pm this Friday to be a part of what is a very relaxing and enjoyable session.

With all of the greens in use by players in the open pairs competition, there was precious little bowls for the locals at home last week.

Social bowls on Wednesday however had the usual good turn out, with 28 bowlers enjoying the sun.

Winners on the day were Barry Wood and John Vidler, with runners up going to Jeff Richardson and John Hindmarsh.

Again the jackpot was left untouched and so a total of $122 will be carried forward to this Wednesday.

It’s also time to get behind the upcoming Miners Weekend Bowls tournament running over the weekend of November 24 and 25.

This is a great two days of bowls with all of the profits going to the Cancer Council.

See John O’Brien, Rick Hanson or bowls secretary Ken Handley and get into a team for the one competition that you wouldn’t want to miss, it’s certainly something a bit different.
