The yearly awards for 2002 are over but the search is now on for the 2003 award winners.

Sometimes Sportsperson of the Month for January and February gets overshadowed by the announcement of the Sportsperson of the Year, but these monthly awards are just as important as every other month.

Last year Sophia Begg won the January award and went on to win the Sportsperson of the Year award as well.

It's not just the winner of each monthly award that is eligible for the big yearly prize.

Everyone nominated for January and February is automatically eligible for Sportsperson of the Year.

There have been quite a few occasions when the Sportsperson of the Year did not win a monthly award; the important thing was the Sports Awards committee received a nomination for them at some time during the year.

Do you know of someone who has achieved well in their sport in January or February?

If the answer is yes, then please nominate them for the monthly award; it will take no more than five minutes of your time.

If you don't nominate them, who will?

Remember, anyone can nominate someone - manager, coach, mum, dad, workmate, neighbour, boss, teacher, friend, anyone.

The nomination process is easy.

The Berrima District Sports Awards committee need to know the person's name, date of birth (a junior is someone who is 16 years or younger on 1st January), the sport, and their achievements .

The nominee's contact phone number and address is also needed so the committee can contact the person.

Nominations normally have to be received by the first Tuesday of the month but for January and February nominations, by Tuesday is fine.
