Top of the table clash

29 Nov, 2004 07:17 AM
Kel's Hillbillies have continued their winning season with a closely fought 11-5 win over the Wanderers.

Coach Kelly Younie said that the Wanderers certainly gave the Hillbillies a run for their money.

"We have played a better game but the heat knocked us around," Younie said.

"At least we won and we haven't been beaten this season."

Younie said that the game was very close and only decided when Lauren Gibbons hit a home run.

"She hit a home run which put us ahead as we were even at that stage," said Younie.

"Her mother Melissa then hit a home run and also bought two home with her, sealing the victory."

Younie said she was happy with the way her charges played but knows that they can play better.

"Overall everyone played well and I was happy with the final result," said Younie.

"It wasn't a stand-out game and we missed a few chances."

The Hillbillies will now look to next week when they clash with the Hornets, who are also undefeated.

"We play the Hornets next week which will be somewhat of a decider as to who will finish on top of the table," Younie said.

"We believe that we can beat them and the team is looking forward to the game.

"We will certainly give them a run for their money."
