Three very good wins to all junior sides were the highlight of last weekend for the Hill Top Northern Villages Cricket Club, and although beaten the senior teams also still performed well.
The under-16s defeated premiership contenders Wingello at Exeter and showed glimpses of the form the club knows it is capable of.
Wingello won the toss, and batted and immediately lost a wicket with a great catch by Harley Peachey off David Malcolm.
A dangerous partnership was then broken by Peachey whose good line and length frustrated Wingello into playing some loose shots.
Another quick wicket left Wingello 3/61.
Another partnership was ended with the return of Malcolm, with Andrew Kinnane taking a brilliant diving catch.
Jack Nevell then struck a blow with a "shortie" special - a running outfield catch.
This started the rot for Wingello when they lost five for nine with plenty of bowlers cashing in.
Josh Short (2/18), Alex Martyn (1/9), Nevell (2/23), Peachey (3/8) and Malcolm (2/24) all helped destroy the bottom order.
Fielding was good with Simon Reid keeping well with a stumping to his name to have Wingello all out 126.
However, at stumps on day one HNVCC were 2/16.
