Tense and torrid contest

24 Sep, 2004 05:58 AM
Both Mittagong and Robertson are primed for a tense and torrid contest in the women's first grade hockey grand final which takes place at Welby Heights tomorrow.

The grand final is the fourth in a row for Mittagong, who will be facing the equally formidable Robertson team.

According to player-coach Sharon Worner, Mittagong's eyes are on the history books.

"It would be great to make it four in a row. I think Moss Vale is the only side to have done that in the past," she said.

"It's difficult to say how this grand final will turn out.

"But we can come out on top."

One thing Worner is certain of is that Saturday's grand final will be a closely fought match, with both teams fighting to take advantage of the ball.

"Robertson has dominated the competition in the last two years and they have a good bunch of young strikers that we're going to have to work hard to keep contained," Worner said.
