Sudden death

25 Feb, 2005 08:35 AM
Bowral United face a sudden death situation this weekend when they take on Goulburn side Railway in their Southern Lands first grade cricket match this weekend.

Bowral United are currently in fifth on 86 points, with Railway in fourth position on 90 points.

The two-day match played over Saturday and Sunday will see the winner take all, while the loser will start planning their end of year presentation.

Bowral captain Tim Neven said that his side was confident they could move into the final series with a win this weekend.

"I think our players are up to the challenge," he said.

"There are a few guys in the side that did not play with us when we won the premiership last year, but some of our players did so we have a blend."

Neven thought that the Railway side had one major danger for United- Jason Apps.

"They beat us in the one-day game and he scored 120 of their total, which was about 160," Neven said.

"He's one of those guys that can make his own luck. We did drop him a couple of times that day and he went on.

"I think their top-order depend on him so we must get him cheaply. If we can, they are exposed."

Although losing to Moss Vale on first innings points last Saturday, Neven said that his players came away with confidence after leaving strike-bowler Troy Brown wicketless.

"A few of the guys were not real confident in facing him," Neven said.
