State champions

THEY may be one of the smallest schools in NSW but Kangaloon Public boasts a highly successful sports program.

The school only has 11 students but won the 4x100m relay at the NSW Primary Small School’s Association (PSSA) State Athletics Championships at Homebush recently.

Principal Jan Meadows said the kids were nervous on their trip to Homebush Athletics Stadium, but their nervous energy turned into instant success.

They qualified with the fastest time before finishing second in their semi-final.

The boys then blitzed the opposition in the final to win the title in a time of 59.77 seconds, a personal best time for the team.

The boys beat 22 other schools from across the state.

“This is an outstanding effort as Kangaloon is one of the state’s smallest schools,” Meadows said.
