WHAT do a medical student, a primary teaching student and a commerce/engineering student have in common?
They all took top honours on Fitzroy Falls marathon day last Saturday.
Trainee doctor Alex Matthews [pictured crossing the finish line], who is studying medicine at the Australian National University, ran the second fastest time in the 42km marathon event’s 10-year history, despite running further than his competition.
Wollongong primary teaching student Stephen Brown won the 10km event, again. Recently returned from a stint with the Australian mountain running team, Brown now holds four of the five best times in the 10km event.
Sydney-based commerce/engineering student Michael Harrison clocked a new record in the 5km event.
291 starters took part across the three events in conditions race director Max Powditch described as “perfect”.
