Rudd's century leads to win

24 Oct, 2005 09:18 AM
A century by Marc Rudd led Workers to a comfortable win over Robertson on Saturday.

Batting first on a slow wicket, Workers initially struggled to make headway, with Ben Rice bowled by D. Cox on the first ball.

T. Batina quickly followed him back to the clubhouse, bowled by Cox for just one run.

Sam Cosgrove notched up 13 runs for Workers before he was caught by J. Brittle, with the score at 3/23. Another quick wicket by Cox took the score to 4.23.

Marc Rudd and his brother Peter between them steadied the innings for Workers, with Marc playing shots all over the park.

The next wicket fell on 132 when Peter Rudd was caught for 40. B. Quigley added 25 to the scoreboard before he was run out.

With Marc Rudd scoring at will, B. Crocker scored a quick 20 before he was caught.

R. Grocott was next to go for 15, leaving Rudd to score his last three runs to his century, finishing the game 100 not out.

Workers finished with 9.252.

For Robertson, best bowling was by D. Cox 3/13 and J. Schofield 2/22.

Robertson was always going to find Workers total hard to get after they lost two quick wickets to be 2/10.

B. Wright and N. Wright started to score some runs before N. Wright was caught and bowled by Joyce for 15, leaving the score at 3/61.
