Robin Hood rides again

31 Oct, 2001 08:17 AM

The newly-formed Robin Hood Committee enjoyed an amazing weekend of fundraising for the Highlands, with $18,000 being donated to the Bowral Hospital as a result of their efforts.

The group staged a fabulous concert on Saturday night at the Mittagong Playhouse featuring Geoff Harvey and his orchestra.

The night was nothing short of spectacular.

World-class musicians joined the talented virtuoso to enthrall the audience with every style of music and wonderful solos.

The trumpet solo “Misty” played by Paul Panicchi was worth the ticket price alone.

Performers played jazz, swing, blues, rock, standards and classics with a big band sound worthy of any world stage.

The music matched the big personality of Geoff Harvey.

The musos were joined by singers, Louise Bruce and Kim Hart who rocked the night along.

Peter Scott sang a rendition of New York New York, which will stay with everyone who heard it.

The Southern Highland News presented a cheque for $5000 to support the appeal.

The four ladies of the Robin Hood Committee, Cheryl Stewart, Katrina Harvey, Susie Anderson and Yvonne Springett are planning a gala evening next year, with the details still to be finalised.
