The Norms pushed even closer to a grand final berth defeating The Buzzards 2-1 in the Summer Soccer B grade competition match at Church Road Oval on Monday night.
The Norms captain Gary Butler opened the score with a soft goal in the first half, which was followed with Bob McLaren slotting in a shot taking the lead to 2-0.
The Buzzards hit back with a penalty in the second half from Ned Uric but were unable to catch The Norms lead.
Norms captain Gary Butler said his team attacked the Buzzards goals 60 per cent of the time.
"Now we are equal first on the ladder and considering only two of our team members have played before is pretty good," he said.
"We are really enjoying B grade because it's a close competition.
"It's better when there is more of a game each week rather than one team knocking over another quite easily.
"And there's no real great pressure we are all just having a bit of fun."
Butler said his best players were Ross Webb and Jim Bizjak.
Buzzards captain Grant Watts said the game overall was played in great spirit, which he believed was typical of a B grade encounter.
"It was a good division two match we scrambled in defence to kept them at bay," he said.
Watts said his best players were Brook Roberts who in his first game back continued the veteran campaign that he still had it.
He added that Chris Watts proved himself showing a level head against older players.
