National honours for Bisby

30 Mar, 2006 02:04 PM
Robertson hockey player Jo Bisby is on her way to Fiji this week to represent Australia in the Oceania Tri-Nations Hockey Tour.

Bisby will be playing alongside some of Australia's top female hockey players, selected from the various state country women's teams.

"I am really nervous, but still very excited," Bisby said.

"I think I'm still really in shock over it all."

She was selected for the Australian National side while playing for the NSW country women's team at Berry last year.

The NSW team beat Queensland 3-1 and, along with the men's Queensland country side, was selected to play as Australia's National hockey representative in the Fiji tour.

The Australian teams will leave today, travelling to Fiji for eight days where they will play top-level teams from Malaysia, Singapore and Fiji.

"It really was a huge shock to get selected, but certainly a huge honour," Bisby said.

"We have players from all over New South Wales and South Australia - it's all a bit daunting.
