Robertson suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday going down to Moss Vale 2-1.
In a top game of hockey played on Frensham's water-based pitch, Moss Vale led 2-0 early in the second half before withstanding a late fight back from Robertson.
Robertson inner Dee Gooden got the Spuddies on the board midway through the half off a penalty corner play and that's all the incentive the black and yellows needed.
They attacked the Mossy goal hard in the closing stages, going close in the final minute of play, but goalkeeper Debbie Burke stood firm and was close to the best player on the park.
Moss Vale skipper Sandra Sharpe was pleased with her side's shock win, but most importantly she was impressed with the side's style of play.
"We always seem to play so much better on the turf for some reason, whatever that might be," Sharpe said.
"It enabled us to play a much more constructed team game, because we could be more controlled in our passes.
"It was a great game and it really could have gone either way."
Robertson had the better of the early stages of the match but it was Mossy who got first blood when Jackie Tickner was in the right place to deflect the ball into the net.
Ten minutes after the break Linda Stone made it 2-0 with a mighty penalty corner strike, before Gooden kept Robo in the game five minutes later but it wasn't enough as Mossy held on to record an upset win.
Robertson captain Kellie Pyne said the side didn't play as well as they have this season and didn't adapt to the conditions on Saturday.
"We've got some areas to work on, but it was good to play on the turf," she said.
"It was a good opportunity for us to have a hit, but I just don't think we used our width well enough.
"We didn't spread the ball enough, didn't adapt to the turf quite the way we should have. The turf needs a shorter game and we didn't play that shorter game today."
Both sides enjoyed massive form reversals from last week, with Robertson beating premiers Mittagong 2-1, while Mossy went down 3-0 to Bowral.
"We played atrociously last week, so the difference was 100 per cent better," Sharpe said.
"I think we just played more confidently and didn't try to belt the hell out of the ball up the field."
Robertson showed glimpses of the short passing game needed to succeed on the turf but didn't sustain the effort for the full sixty minutes and it proved costly.
"We were a little but disorganised at the start of the game and I think we got off on the wrong foot and just couldn't come pick it up from there," Pyne said.
"It is our first loss but that's OK we'll come back next week, actually next week I think we have the bye but we'll train hard this week and come back from it."
Narelle Evans returned for Moss Vale at right half and was stron while for Robo, Brooke Handley, Kylie Bisby and Catherine Hindmarsh were the best.
In the other ladies' first grade match at Frensham, Mittagong beat Burrawang 3-0.
