30 Sep, 2005 07:42 AM
After a successful event last November, the Moss Vale Rodeo is set to return to Moss Vale Showground.

Tuckerbag Supa IGA Moss Vale has taken the major naming rights to this event.

There will be boots, chaps, cowboy hats, spurs, bulls and broncs to thrill the crowds yet again.

A revamped program assures an action packed day for all to enjoy.

The fourth Moss Vale Rodeo is being staged by the Moss Vale AH & I Society as an additional fundraiser to help maintain existing facilities at the local Showground.

The Moss Vale Show Society is a registered non-profit organisation comprising a small group of dedicated volunteers who are responsible for the management and care of the showground.

The Moss Vale Rodeo is affiliated with the Australian Bushman's Campdraft and Rodeo Association (ABCRA) and run under their rules and regulations.

Competitors must be members of the ABCRA and enter in events via their central entry.

Current National Finalist Cowboys and Cowgirls will be competing for $10,000 in prizemoney, and score points that will assist in defending their respective titles.

Rodeo events on offer include bull riding, bronc riding, steer wrestling, roping, poddy riding. Events start at 12pm and finish at 11pm. Gates open at 10am.

A star attraction is one of Australia's most fearsome bulls, 2003/2004 ABCRA , Tamworth National Finals Bucking Bull, Hurricane, sure to be on his worst behaviour.

Hurricane will be supplied by Matt and Lisa Besant, while the bucking horse stock is supplied by South Coast rodeo identity Rick Wilson.

Many of the bulls were used in the 2005 Sydney Royal Easter Show International Challenge.

This saw the top bull riders in Australia pitted against the top bull riders from Canada, who were flown over from Canada especially for the event.
