Moss Vale aim for second

an outright win in this weekend's two-day Southern Lands first grade cricket match against Robertson/Burrawang at Chater Oval.

Moss Vale are currently in equal second position on the ladder and will be hoping to secure second spot to ensure a second chance during the finals series.

Their rivals for second place, Goulburn side Workers, will be playing Hill Top at Bradman Oval and recent form would suggest that they are primed for an outright win.

Moss Vale defeated Bowral United on first innings points in the last round, while Robertson lost their match to the top of the table side Soldiers.

Moss Vale captain Michael Bull said that his side was confident heading into the finals, whether they finish second or third.

"If we can get an outright win we can still finish second," Bull said.

"Either way we are still pretty confident as we have not been beaten since round four."

Bull said that the feeling in the team was very positive.

"Everyone has a lot of faith in the ability of their team-mates and the team has gelled nicely this season," he said.

In the other matches on the weekend, Hill Top will take on Workers at Bradman Oval.

Hill Top suffered an outright defeat at the hands of fourth-placed Railway last weekend in Goulburn, however, they did manage to bowl the Goulburn side out for 123 in their first innings.

Workers played Wingello at Bradman and gained first innings points in a rain shortened match.

Workers were bowled out for 100 in their first innings, in reply to Wingello's 78.

On the second day, Wingello were 8/125 before rain stopped play.

Wingello will have to travel down the Hume to play competition leaders Soldiers at Kenmore Oval.
