Mixed fortunes for brave Robertson juniors
On a lovely Saturday morning the juniors from Robertson-Burrawang took to the field eager to continue their winning ways. The terrific twelves had a home game against Moss Vale Rangers, while the fantastic fourteens returned to Chev to complete their two day game.
The terrific twelves headed to Burrawang for their game against the Moss Vale Rangers looking to make it two from two. The team got off to a good start winning the toss and electing to bowl. Matthew 1/2, Gus 1/9, Nicholas 1/10, Mitchell 1/11 and Daisy 1/12 & Sam took a catch. Moss Vale 5/130 after their 30 overs. Now for our chase of such a big total for U/12's Gus 12, was the only batsmen to reach double figures as we fell well short of Mossy's total being all out for 53, bad luck team, but there are still two more games before the finals so you are still in with a chance. Next week the Terrific Twelves take on Wingello at Wingello and I know they will do their best.
The fantastic fourteens returned to Chevalier in a great position for first innings points, Chev needed a further 84 runs to reach our total, but our bowlers made sure that wasn't going to happen, Ben 3/20, Trent 3/22, Alby Mangles Rule 2/6 and Red Jnr. 2/21 were our wicket takers while Nathan 0/4, James 0/18 and Jed 0/26 helped to tie the Chev batsmen down. Ponto took two catches and Nathan took one and a stumping. Chev falling for 121, 21 runs short of out total giving us first innings points. In our second innings Nathan again led the way scoring 62, Jed 18, Red Jnr 17, Ben 11 no & Ben 10no to give us a couple of bonus points to go with the points from the first innings win. Well done boys you have hit some good form leading into the semis, the win on Saturday puts us into third place and the semis, which start next week. The fantastic fourteens will be playing Mittagong at Stephens Park 1 in a day game, and are the club's first side into the semis this season. Congratulations boys I know you will do the club and yourselves proud in the semi-finals.
Good luck to both teams on Saturday and don't forget training on Mondays at 4pm.
Until next time, the junior cricket critic.
