Mittagong record second win

31 May, 2005 04:59 PM
Mittagong scored a convincing win over The Oaks last Sunday by 42-14.

The Oaks, which has struggled all year and looked likely to lose a team, played strongly with their reserve grade recording its first win of the season.

A second-half fightback from the first grade side also gave encouragement to the club.

Mittagong, which has been a little unlucky in recent weeks in games they should have won, delivered in this game.

They raced to a 18-0 nil lead after 20 minutes and looked set for a big score.

Two more tries by Peter Robinson and Jonathan Ngan Woo saw the score go to 28-0, but just before half- time The Oaks scored their first try by Adam Giri for a half-time score of 28-4.

The pace slowed in the second-half with both sides showing a contest, with The Oaks scoring after eight minutes for a 28-8 scoreline.

However, after that try, the the Lions put on further tries to Peter Robinson and Scott Shepherd.

Best players for Mittagong were Jonathan Ngan Woo and Scott Shepherd, while Adam Giri played well for the Oaks.
