Magpies record intact after swooping Sea Devils

27 Nov, 2002 09:24 AM

The Picton Magpies have maintained their undefeated record this season as they used some very impressive skills, in defeating Sea Devils 10-3.

The Magpie's were forced to prove them selves, as the Sea Devils took it to them early on the night, with Magpies going goal for goal early on.

The first quarter ended with the Magpies leading narrowly 3-2, thanks to three goals to Merriam Ratcliffe before the defence worked her out of the match, while Siobhan Clayton and Jillian Howe kept Sea Devils right in there with one each.

The scores became lop-sided with the Magpies team scoring four goals in the next period, Lachlan Simpson three, and Jack Twist both scoring.

The Sea Devils didn't want one team really dominant, if it wasn't them.

They wanted to make it a good match, so the Devils kept giving it their best.

In the third period the Magpies were kept to a goal each, with their scoring added to by Jack Twist, while Sea Devil's Madeline Lisle scored for them.

The last quarter saw each team going hard, with the Magpie's scoring two unanswered goals, Alex Peters and Jack Twist scoring a goal each, to take their team's total to 10 and the final 10-3 score line.

Best and Fairest 3 to Jack Twist 2 to Rose Chandler and 1 to Merriam Ratcliffe.

Cane Toads Croak after Defeating Wombats

The Cane Toads recorded a hard fought 9-3 win over the young Wombats.

The second half was the period where most of the damage was done, as the Wombats were caught looking for hole after putting in so much effort in to the first half.

Cane Toads were ahead 2-0 at the first break, after Jacob Bow had scored with an excellent shot and Alyssa Carey had also put one in.

During the next period the Cane Toads didn't have many shots at goal, as the Wombats defence stopped most of the attacks.

Only one goal to Alyssa Carey managed to find the way in, while Wombats managed 2, 1 to Sam Croke and 1 to Stuart Reeves, for a close 3-2, Toads lead at the half time break.

In the next quarter the Cane Toads turned in a superb effort to score to 2-1, Cane Toad's scorers were Emma Rostron, who is improving very rapidly, and another to Alyssa Carey who was on fire.

Wombat's scorer was Dominic Chandler, with a strong shot on the eve of his 10th birthday.

In the last period the Cane Toads continued to find the net, gamely scoring a further 4 goals, 1 to Jacob Bow and another 3 to Alyssa Carey.

The Wombats continued to try hard but were unable to post any more goals, to arrive at the final 9-3 score line.

After half time the Roosters were not satisfied as the put in five more goals, one to Elton Tucker and two each to Toby Williams and Kit Cunningham-Reid.

The Dolphins were looking for a nice aquarium to swim in as they lined up for the last quarter, but at 12-0 they were still giving their best.

Snappers put the bite on Sharkettes

The young Snappers continued to show that they are capable of playing with a bit of bite in this competition by defeating the Sharkettes 8-1.

The score was very even with the Snappers only leading at 1-0 at the end of the first quarter, after Dougal Kelly had posted the only goal for Snappers and Sharkettes had been kept scoreless.

The Sharkettes were not able to penetrate the tight Snappers defence, as they managed to keep them to just a goal, by Angelica Pickup, while Snappers posted two more goals themselves, both to Jock Sowter, who is finding the net well.

The period after half time was not so even, the Sharkettes kept taking the ball up but Eddie Webbeck was very good in goals and was blocking the shots well.

At the same time the Snapper's defence was working, the attack was doing their part in scoring three more goals, one to Travis Franklin, A Kary and another one to Dougal Kelly.
