Southern Highlands golf professionals Rob Kennedy and Larry Canning have qualified for the Australian Club Professional Championships following impressive finishes at the NSW Club Professional Championships last week.
Kennedy finished tied for second in the tournament shooting an even par score over 36 holes while Canning was placed fifth, shooting four over par.
Kennedy is the club professional at Mount Broughton Golf Club while Canning is the professional at Highlands Golf Club at Mittagong.
The pair have played together on many occasions in recent years and were paired together in the opening round of the tournament.
The championships were open to all golf club professionals throughout NSW.
More than 80 golfers took part in the NSW Club Professional Championships played at the Castle Hill Golf Club on April 18.
Kennedy was tied for second with Wollongong Golf Club professional Neil Spiers, while the winner on the day was Dave Merriman.
Kennedy said he didn't play particularly well in the morning round, shooting three over par, but considering the gusty conditions, the score wasn't too bad compared to the rest of the field.
"The course was in really good condition but it was windy in the morning," he said.
"The score actually put me in a pretty good position leading into the second round.
"I played very well in the afternoon round shooting three under par and my score could have been lower if things went my way."
