The two players are the only Highlands players in the Campbelltown-based Girls Youth League side, with the girls scouted by Rams officials.

Tessa, 11, and Frances, 10, were asked to try out for the team last year after officials watched them play for the Moss Vale Soccer Club.

The duo then trained with the Rams' development squad over summer, before making the cut after impressing at the three selection trials.

Midfielder Frances and Tessa, who plays in defence, have been playing soccer since under-eights but this year with the Rams will be the first time they have played in an all girls team.

The Rams' under-12 side have been impressive in their trial matches over the last month, highlighted by their win at the Proctor Park Challenge two weekends ago in Bathurst.

The round robin competition contained most of the teams the Rams will come up against in the Youth League competition this season, with the side going through the competition undefeated, coming from from one goal behind to win both the semi-final and the final.

The Rams opening match on Sunday, March 7 is against St George at Rockdale, just one of the many road trips the Spratt and Konz families will undertake this winter.

As well as the matches on the weekend, the girls travel to Campbelltown twice a week for training, with the girls' parents taking it in turns to do the driving.

"We're lucky that there's two of us actually because if there was only one come from Moss Vale it would be very hard," Tessa's mother Lesley said.

"It's a big thing for them because there's two training nights up at Campbelltown. They leave here at 4.30pm and get there at 5.30pm. They train till 7.30pm and don't get home until 8.30pm, so it's a big day for them."

The two girls may be the only local players in the Rams lineup, but the Highlands has two representatives in another Girls Youth League side in the under-12 division.

Robertson's Imogen Rolon and Carlia Phillips from Bundanoon play for the Southern Branch side, which is based in Nowra but covers the whole South Coast region including the Southern Highlands and Goulburn.
