The Mittagong Lions get the chance to push for a top-five position in the group 6 rugby league competition when they take on Oakdale this Saturday night at Mittagong Oval.
After losing their first two games to Goulburn and Picton, the Lions notched up a come-from-behind 32-26 win over the Moss Vale Dragons last Sunday.
The Lions are currently on two points on the competition, as are Oakdale who, although winless, received two points for the bye.
Fourth and fifth-placed Camden and Picton are both on four points, so the winner of the Lions game should be equal fifth after this competition round,
Lions coach Grahame Andrews said that although Oakdale is yet to win a game this year, his charges will have to be on their game.
"They'll be a tough side to beat,"Andrews said.
"This is a must win game for us - we are playing at home and we have to beat them.
"I am yet to see them play this year but they have picked up a few players, and by all accounts were competitive against Thirlmere last weekend."
Ironically for Andrews, he has an association with the team he is trying to beat this weekend.
Andrews was coach of the Oakdale first grade side that was defeated in the 2001 grand final 20-16 by Thirlmere.
