Last weekend saw an end to the great summer racing conditions that we had been experiencing over the last few weeks with cold, wet weather keeping numbers down for last Saturday's handicap event at Bundanoon.
Limit riders this week were Ian Mein and Roy McEwan leading off 24 minutes ahead of scratch riders Richard Vollebregt, Shaun Lewis and Chad Balding.
The lower number of starters meant that there were not many bunches forming as the race progressed making the pickings pretty easy for the scratchies.
James Williamson, William Sawtell and Colin Balk managed to hook onto the back of the scratch group as they powered through the field.
Shaun Lewis and Colin Balk displayed outstanding racecraft to outfox Richard on the finish line to take first and second.
The final positions of the 16 hearty souls who completed the course are listed below.

Next Saturday we race the Canyonleigh course from 2pm.
Sutherland club is coming up to race with us so we will be starting from Sutton Forest Hotel this week.
Also, good luck to all those representing the club in the Southern Division Road championships this Sunday.
Don't forget our first race in the Interclub Series is scheduled for May 12.
Any enquiries please contact Richard Vollebregt 4868 2475, Peter Tomlinson 4871 2170 or Peter Wheeler 4862 1026.
Last Sunday Richard Vollebregt conducted a mountain bike skills clinic on the single track course in Penrose Pine Forest.
About twelve riders turned up and gained some valuable tips on getting over logs, ditches and down steep embankments etc.
The highlight of the day was Col Balk's demonstration of a "front end skid" (those mountain bike brakes are a bit touchy).
Also, next week there will be a working bee on the course to repair the damage done by Glen Wright.
