The Mustangs sent a menacing finals message to their A-grade softball rivals with a thumping 24-4 demolition of the Superoos at OLSH on Saturday.
In what was expected to be a tight encounter, the Mustangs were simply savage, battering the hapless Superoos around the park in an awesome batting display.
Mustangs' captain Kaylene Wood claimed her side's sparkling form would continue into the upcoming finals series.
"We've played really well the last few weeks and I think we're starting to put it all together," she said.
"Everyone seems to be getting used to each others style of play and it's obviously showing out on the field.
"We just batted so well today and our fielding was also very good."
The win takes the Mustangs to second position on the four-team competition table.
After the match, losing coach Flo Moore remained philosophical about the implications of the one sided result.
"It's a bit disappointing but this sort of blow can often do the side some good," she said.
"It could make the team really lift and the Mustangs might be a bit complacent next time we meet.
"Any team can win this competition on their day and hopefully we'll be able to put it all together come finals time."
But the Mustangs never gave the Superoos a look in on Saturday, rocketing to a 16-3 lead after the third innings, smashing eight run sin the second inning alone including a massive home run from Katrina Moss.
And despite the Mustangs being restricted to just five runs off the next two innings, the bird had well and truly flown at 21-3 after five.
And with Superoos' pitcher Julie McKeown injured early in the match, the Superoos had simply no answer to the power hitting and slick fielding of the Mustangs.
The Superoos made a spirited last inning revival but it was too little, too late.
The loss plunges the Superoos to last on the table with just two weeks until the finals.
"It's certainly going to be hard for us now but you never know," Moore said.
"But credit must go to the Mustangs, they batted really well."
Best player for the Mustangs was Katrina Wood who batted superbly while Stacey Plain had a strong game in a losing side for the Superoos.ws
