Justin's dream a step closer

31 Jan, 2006 03:45 PM
Hard work and effort has payed off for 18-year-old Justin Tomlinson, who is now setting his sights on riding for the national junior championship cycling team.

Having been selected for the state team, after competing in and winning the under-19 scratch race at the Olympic Velodrome in Bankstown last weekend, his quest for national selection is a step closer.

Successful selection into the national team will be mean he is guaranteed a shot at trying out for the world team, Australia's international cycling team.

"I'll certainly be trying my best to make it into the national side. They only take the top five riders from the competition in Adelaide," said Justin, who will compete in the selection competition for the national side next week in Adelaide.

He will compete in four event, including the scratch race, his strongest event.

"It's a very competitive field and you really have to work hard," he said.
