Recently the reformed Loop Line Pony Club held its first gymkhana at Jurd Park in Colo Vale.
As has been the case this year, the weather was absolutely brilliant and all the riders in the club met early at the Pony Club grounds to prepare both themselves and their horses for the upcoming events.
The riders looked great in their uniforms with many finding their first experience at knotting a tie an interesting one.
The events included jumping, flag races and a variety of other games, which certainly tested the skills and the stamina of the riders.
Bernie Walters from Bargo was the official judge and his humour and fair play added to the enjoyment of the day. Debbie Murtagh, the chief instructor and her assistant, Lyn Morris need to be congratulated on their organisation of the gymkhana and their insistence that safety was the first priority.
There were no doubts that all concerned worked hard at making a success of the day as the sausage sandwiches sold out along with drinks, tea and coffee.
All participants went home clutching a swag of certificates and ribbons. There has been a noticeable improvement in all riders, especially our beginners, over the past six months and the gymkhana allowed them to show off their skills. A great day was had by all.
The Loop Line Pony Club meets on the first and third Sundays of each month and provides a safe environment for horse riders to learn their skills. All new members are welcome and can find out more by ringing Martin or Jennifer on 4889 8433.
