THE Southern Highlands archery club continues to flourish, boasting 30-plus members who are all ready to start using the field which is near completion.
The clubhouse is well underway nearing lock-up stage and several promising beginners have enquired about joining up for the new season which started on June 1.
The club was recently represented at the nationals by husband and wife team Grahame and Diann Benson.
Although both shot below par, Diann came away with a tenth in the target round and a 12th in the field.
Diann hit a purple patch on the last distance in the target event coming away with a new national record of 354 out of 360 at 30m.
However, closer to home, newcomer Robert Loiterton has made many take notice on the way to winning his first event at the SOPA 900.
Loiterton has been improved in leaps and bounds and all goes well for upcoming shoots where he will help the Bensons at they attempt to steal away the teams trophy from the more fancied Sydney clubs.
A number of members take part in the state short-course championships over the weekend in Homebush.
Remember, members affiliations fees are due by June’s end and it is hoped there will be more members involved in tournaments this season.
