It's happened! Our new extension is up and running with two successful functions this week.
All the years of hard planning is now operational with the members chance to view and appreciate our new facility this coming weekend. Saturday night is our VIP invitation only Grand Opening and Sunday is the Members afternoon from 3.30 to 7.30 with drinks at happy hour prices and finger food to help celebrate the newest Function Centre in the Southern Highlands.
On the golf course we played the annual Wingecarribee Cup, a medley 2-ball aggregate and individual stableford Sponsored by Don Ceramics and Lights and DÈcor in Sherwood Village in Bowral. Our thanks to Peter and Janet Bracken as well as Brett and Miriam Jana for all the support and hard work they have put into the Club over many years.
The Wingecarribee Cup is won by the day's best individual score and Bill Gould blitzed the field scoring a massive 44 points and is this year's champion.
Bill teamed up with Barry Andrews to win the 2-ball with a big 78 points from the runners up David Willoughby and Nathan Mahony who combined well to fire 74 points.
Brendon Hill and Scott Wunderlich had the days best combined scratch score of 53 points.
Shannon Martin shot 42 points and was the men's runner up and Alison Durbin is starting to get the hang of the game shooting 37 points to win the ladies individual.
Tony Marr won the men's long drive on the 6th in A grade, Geoff Mullins was the longest in B grade with Steve Read winning the C grade again. The ladies was on the 11th and Ros Gardiner was the longest and Ros also won the Drive and Pitch on the 17th. Vic Hyland was the men's drive and pitch winner on the 8th with Rob Gilroy winning both the NTPs on the 12th and 15th.
We had a $2 NTP on the 18th with most players entering and once again Ros Gardiner was the winner topping off a good day, winning the $65 prize pool and $195 plus $450 from the comp fees will go towards the purchase of a dialyses machine for Bowral Hospital which the district needs. Thank you to all who made the effort on the day.
The Team golf day a couple of Fridays ago was a great success with 50 starters enjoying this new event.
Tony Marr and Roy Fleming fired a great 7 under par round of 63 off the stick for a 59 net and will go on to the regional finals in October at Camden Lakeside for a chance to win a trip to the International finals in Maui in Hawaii later in the year. Get your passports ready guys and play well in October. Not a bad prize for a $20 entry fee.
This coming Saturday is a Pinehurst sponsored by Ian Jones and Roger Cole.
Sunday is a Medley Stableford so why not play golf around 10 to 11am and come to the members opening of the Club after.
The kitchen is having a refit this week so no food other than pies and sausage rolls from the pro-shop will be available with the fit out. Hopefully the fit out will be finished by Friday night ready for dinner.
Ike Stallins daughter, a regular on Friday nights, won the badge draw last week and picked up $750 for just being in the Club. Congratulations. The badge draw is back to a healthy $500 this coming Friday night.
